The territory of Agropoli<\/strong> was already occupied in the Neolithic, a Roman town developed there and then a medieval city.<\/p>\n

The city is dominated by its historic center which has retained many of its narrow streets. The enclosure is well preserved, it is accessed by the main door, preceded by a very wide staircase. There are many small bars and restaurants serving the traditional dishes of Agropoli, often based on anchovies, but also buffalo mozzarella and artichoke that are specialties of the region.<\/p>\n

The city has kept its castle, whose walls and visible towers date from the fifteenth century. On the coast you can discover ancient fortified towers such as the tower of St. Mark. These towers dotted the entire coast during the times of piracy.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
